A Brief Overview of Our Periodontal Therapy

Following the initial examination and radiographs, the goals of the periodontal treatment are to control the cause (bacterial plaque) and risk factors of disease, repair the damage present (pockets), and restore and maintain a healthy environment. These goals can often be reached through in-depth scaling and root planning – with or without anti-infectives or antibiotics – and/or may involve soft tissue, osseous, or regenerative surgery. Implant site development and placement are also done in our office.

In order to attain these objectives, there are 5 main steps:

The maintenance phase (scale and root plane) can include collaboration between you and your hygiene department and our experts when the patient is stable with optimal oral hygiene. Until that time, your patient will continue their maintenance at our office with surgical treatment if needed.
